Average?? Heroes??
A new Rifts campaign, that will hopefully start soon.
Character creation: and all rules during play will follow standard Paladium rules set down in the books. There will only be the following changes.
Campaign Idea: Average (but what on RIFTS earth is average?) group of vagabond/traveller adventurers moving about the Old American Central and Northern Mountains. Between Old Dakotas and Idaho.
- Characters: are limited to meat. No exceptions.
- Meat: n. (1) a first level, human or D-Bee. Meat is a non-shape-changer; not anything that is demonic or gains only RCC skills (and thus cannot choose an OCC); anything that can metamorphasize without using the metamorphasis spell. Anything that can do one of these is not meat.
- D-Bee: n. (1) any being not from, or not looking like it is native to earth, without demonic or inate magical powers. (2) a strange looking human
- Attacks per round: is based on your race, plus those gained for hand to hand (plus those from Robot Combat if one is trained in that), plus any bonuses.
- E.G. #1 A human level one mage with H-to-H: Basic: 4 attacks [2+2].
- E.G. #2 A human level two Juicer, with H-to-H: Assassin and boxing: 8 attacks [2+1+2+2+1].
- Initiative: is by my system. Basically faster people act first or more often. Uses attacks per round to figure and initiative bonus, so keep track of both.
- Attributes: are rolled as per your R.C.C. unmodified, straight up, no extra die under any circumstances.
-
- Attributes: for a human are rolled on 4d6, dropping the low die. If the three high die should add to greater than 15, then add the fourth die, do not re-roll it.
- Roll attributes in front of me.
- Skills: for RCCs and OCCs from before the Phase world book get an extra two secondary skills and three WPs. RCCs and OCCs from Phase world and later gain two extra secondary skills. All are gained at first level and cannot be saved.
- Character Points: will be given out as well as experience points. XPs will be for character advancement in the normal Paladium fashion. CPs will be used to get around dice rolling for the sake of coolness. They will be awarded to Players on slips of paper much like tokens. When a die roll is called for, the player may hand the GM a token and then instead of rolling, may describe their exploits in great and graphic detail. GM may overrule the use or veto the use of a token, and unless the token was used disruptively, it will be given back to the player.
- GM reserves the right to make people fail at dice rolls that they question the nature of, GM is final arbitrator.

Short Version House Rules The abridged version of the above. i.e. no fluff. The version I currently use. Leans towards diceless RPG'ing.

Dear Plato and the Council of Learning,
My latest report comes to you from the house of an Old friend who I recently met. Mr. Cassius Adolphus, the renowned traveler/bandit depending on who you talk to. I know you have all met him in the past because his travels take him to your fair city, but I have never had the chance to meet this wilderness scout of legend.
I am at a small wood-walled encampment of log houses in the Old American Empire State of Ohio. The beauty of the surrounding countryside is amazing and I have to think that Felix, as he likes to be called, has something to do with that. He, as you know is renowned for his love of nature. Since my last reports involving the Gray Seers, the Myths of Psi-Scape, and the new darkness they reported was spreading over the land, much has happened. My heart was broken when I heard of the fall of Tolkeen in 106 PA. After the disastrous chain of events that lead up to the all out attack, the terrorist acts against the Coalition, the Deaths of the Lone Star Council, including Bradford, make me think there was more to it than the News chains could explain. Just after the exodus of Tolkeen, I began my current journey to investigate the rumors about these Death Mages. I departed shortly after the Citys destruction and have head the rumors about the Federation of Magics destruction, but I can say for a fact they are false, I have spoken with many traveling Ley Line Walkers and scouts in the area, all of whom know that Dunscon's city still stands. Likewise I have heard of the Siege of Chi-Town, and I couldn't help but compare it to the Federation of Magics invasion of 11 PA. General Goldstone and his men apparently captured the city and held it for one week, before Coalition Forces from Lone Star could arrive to drive them out. The General's forces withdrew when they realized they could never repel firepower of that magnitude. I would guess that they did it to save the citizens of Chi-Town a second invasion. Emperor Prosek was killed in the Invasion but his son Joseph was able to escape and rally the troops. This all adds up to give me a morbid sense of dread about the future that, even Sir Thorpe has noted, is not in keeping with my bubbly sense of optimism.
How I met Felix was somewhat by chance. Sir Thorpe's cyborg companion Nick Danger heard laser blasts in the distance, and noted that they were of mixed coalition and civilian mix. We approached cautiously, and what we found was a surprise to even me. There was a caravan of sorts traveling up a dry river bed here in the Ohio valley, the occupants were ambushed by Felix and many were dead. When we came close, Sir Thorpe deployed men in defensive positions, as we didn't know the nature of the men we were dealing with. After watching them move among the bodies and collect survivors, we were convinced that we could hail them.
They explained to us (and Sir Thorpe verified) that this convoy had been carrying prisoners to an unknown destination. One of Felix's associates named Drake explained the nature of their magic, and it chilled me to my core. They are the foulest brand of Mages, Necromancers. What they were doing with the bodies, was unknown to Felix but once his prisoners are taken back to base they would be unable to resist any interrogation, he explained.
I pray that things are not as bad as they seem. I will write again as soon as possible.
