The State of the World Address, were there one, would be dismal for January 1, 2003. Global unrest in the fragmenting nations of the Third World is on the rise. The Thrid World is growing in population and in the number of nations that part of it. Terrorism is on the rise around the globe, and in every nation that still considers itself a First World Nation. Increasingly the United States is the only nation that can act effectively outside its own borders as a Global Policeman. China, India, Pakistan, Japan, Russia are moving towards making the first mistake in politics: Getting involved in a land war in Asia. Nuclear weapons and other Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) are proliferating and the Internation Nuclear Arms Ban has fallen apart. North Korea tested its first Nuclear Device in an underground blast that was recorded by geologists around the world December 25, 2001. Africa has almost totally collapsed on itself after the Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse visited in 2000. Pestilence, Death, Famine, and War we held in check on the new years of the Millenium by teams of Protective Agents, but not before they made an appearance. The plagues, wars, disease (AIDS and others), and famines they left have crippled the continent. South America is not much better, as Corporations move to gobble up the precious land and resources that exist there. All of this is done without regard to local politics or the indigenous peoples. Last, Siberian resources are being fought over in the corporate board rooms of the world. Particularly in Japan and the United States. Both are struggling to win Russain favor to keep or gain the title of Most Powerful Nation. Should Russia come to hold the data that they do, that Siberia has more natural resources than the United States ever has, they may be thrust back onto the world stage as a Mega-Power.
